Experimenteren met kleuren en patronen
In de zomer van 2009 wilde ik iets nieuws proberen en ik sloeg aan het experimenteren met nieuwe acrylverf. Voor de ondergrond gebruikte ik een paar felle kleuren en werkte ik met organische vormen. En alhoewel ik heel tevreden was met die laag zoals dit op de foto staat, was het me wel duidelijk dat er nog een aantal lagen overheen moesten komen.
Het was een warme periode en ik vermoed dat de zon me parten heeft gespeeld, want ik ging vervolgens helemaal los met nog meer kleuren en nog meer nieuwe patronen. Het resultaat werd een schilderij waar ik niet helemaal blij mee ben, maar waar ik altijd wel blij van word wanneer ik het zie!
Onrustig
Sommige dingen maakten me totaal niet blij, met name het experimenteren met de hoeveelheid kleuren die ik gebruikte om te stippelen. Ook de bonte mix aan patronen met stippen ging me gaandeweg wat tegenstaan. Te onrustig.
Blijkbaar werk ik toch liever met een kleiner aantal kleuren en met minder patronen. Of zou het weerstand tegen iets nieuws zijn? Sommige details van het schilderij vind ik overigens wel goed gelukt. Met name de groene cirkel met het koperkleurige patroon met stippen.
De koperkleurige acrylverf sprak me zo veel aan dat ik deze kleur daarna direct weer voor een nieuw schilderij heb gebruikt. Met overigens veel minder kleuren en veel meer rechte lijnen. Alsof ik mezelf corrigeerde. Vreemd hoe ik me dat gevoel zo goed herinner, het is toch bijna vijf jaar geleden dat ik dit schilderde.
Nu ik al bijna een jaar niet meer heb geschilderd mis ik het toch wel. Iets bedenken, er dan mee beginnen en dat het schilderij dan heel anders wordt dan vooraf bedacht. En hoe je inderdaad tijdens het schilderen al aan een nieuw schilderij denkt. Tijd om maar weer eens te beginnen.
Blij
Voor het uitzoeken van de voor-en-na afbeeldingen nam ik de hele serie foto’s nog eens door die ik tijdens het werken aan dit schilderij heb gemaakt. Daar zag ik ook dat ik de namen van mijn kinderen op een bepaald moment heb toegevoegd en weer heb verstopt. Dat was ik dus vergeten… Misschien dat ik er daarom onbewust altijd zo blij van word.
